International Symposium on Low Carbon Technology

The Background

Carbon pollution is causing climate change, resulting in higher temperatures, more droughts, rising sea levels and more extreme weather. Low carbon technology is to prevent dangerous climate change, and to reduce the rate we are consuming finite global resources. Moving to low carbon economy and green growth not only addresses an environmental imperative and a technology developmental progress on energy, but also it makes a new business achievement.

Research demonstrates that a 60% reduction in carbon emissions can be achieved by 2050, adopting an improvement of power and energy system structure, using a mixture of energy efficiency, new and renewable energy sources, replacing coal and oil with lower carbon fuels such as gas and using hydrogen as a fuel and so on.

The transition to low carbon economy and green growth will have a negligible impact on long term GDP growth and will present tremendous opportunities for those who develop and deliver low carbon and green products and services.

The aim of a low carbon economy and green growth is to integrate all aspects of itself from manufacture, agriculture, transportation and power-generation etc. around technologies that produce energy and materials with little GHG emission; and thus, around populations, buildings, machines and devices which use those energies and materials efficiently, and, dispose of or recycle its wastes so as to have a minimal output of GHGs and to improve the environment. Furthermore, it has been proposed to make the transition to a low carbon and green energy system technologically and economically.
