City of Beijing
Beijing is the capital of China, famed with its old civilization. Beijing was chosen as the venue, not only for its ancient historic beauty and excellent conference facilities, but also for its academic atmosphere. There are several well-established agricultural universities and research institutes in Beijing and many colleagues from these institutions have been working on the diamondback moth and other crucifer pests. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the facilities.

Visas
The China International Conference Center for Science and Technology will issue an official invitation letter to those who have returned the final registration form. With this letter, you can go to the nearest Chinese Embassy or Consulate to apply for entry visa (s). To allow ample time for a successful visa application, you are kindly requested to return the Registration Form by the deadline. If any problem arises, please contact the secretariat of IWMDMOCP for assistance.

Insurance
It is advisable that participants take out adequate travel and health insurance before leaving their respective countries.

Weather
Beijing enjoys mild and sunny weather in October. During the late part of October, temperature are usually in the range of 10 ℃ (midnight) to 22 ℃ (noon). There is not much rain.

Facilities for the Symposium
Laptop computer, multimedia projector, 35 mm film projector, transparent sheets, video tape recorders, TV sets, poster board, and all subsidiary facilities will be available in the meeting room.

Arrival
The symposium representatives with the sign of the workshop will be present at the Exit of the Airport from 07:00 to 23:00 on October 23 and 24. The transportation fee from the airport to the Friendship Hotel is US$10 per person, payable on the bus. Taxis are always available at the Airport. Taxi fares to the hotel will be about RMB110-130 (or about US$15). The notes below may help you in taking a taxi to the hotel.

Currency and Banking
There are foreign currency exchange services at the Bank of China at the airport, the friendship hotel and other hotel and stores that cater to foreign guests. It is advisable to change sufficient money for immediate needs upon arrival at the airport. Cash and traveler's cheques are easily exchanged at any bank and at most hotels. Credit cards are accepted only by the Headquarters of the Bank of China and a few deluxe hotels. Credit cards may be accepted for major purchases at some shops. Some major credit cards (American Express, Visa, Master, JCB, Million and Federal) are acceptable to the Friendship Hotel.
